The Department of Tamil was started with the inception of the college in 1991. Part – I Tamil is taught to the students. There are 6 faculty members with Doctoral Degree and four faculty members have cleared UGC – NET/SET.
The Department has signed an MoU with Tamil Research Foundation for conducting International Conferences & Workshops based on Tamil Language. The Department is conducting a certificate course on Ethical Values.
The department has motivated many students to participate in various conferences, workshops, essay writing, Poetry, Elocution and Inter collegiate cultural events. Faculty of the department have published research articles in various journals and have participated and presented papers in various National & International conferences.
- To develop the overall personality of the students, making them complete citizens with self-confidence, who can make indelible impressions with excellence in every field they choose.
- To inject creativity into the class room with increasing emphasis on enhancing enthusiasm and curiosity of the students in understanding the complex issues of the society and finding solutions for them with a bird’s eye view.
- To create awareness among students about the importance of preserving and enriching our culture and civilization for the upliftment of our society through Tamil Literature.
