The Department of Tamil was started with the inception of the college in 1991. Part – I Tamil is taught to the students. There are 6 faculty members with Doctoral Degree and four faculty members have cleared UGC – NET/SET.
The Department has signed an MoU with Tamil Research Foundation for conducting International Conferences & Workshops based on Tamil Language. The Department is conducting a certificate course on Ethical Values.
The department has motivated many students to participate in various conferences, workshops, essay writing, Poetry, Elocution and Inter collegiate cultural events. Faculty of the department have published research articles in various journals and have participated and presented papers in various National & International conferences.
Vision
- சமுதாயத்தை ஆழ்ந்து நோக்குகின்ற பருந்துப் பார்வையுடன், சமுதாயத்தில் நிகழும் சிக்கல்களுக்குத் தீர்வு காணும் வகையில் ஒரு சிறந்தப் படைப்பாளரை தமிழ்க் கல்வியுடன் உருவாக்குதல். பண்பாடு, கலாச்சாரத்துடன் கூடிய வாழ்வியல் நெறிகளை இலக்கியக் கல்வி மூலம் பயிற்றுவிக்கப்பட்டு சமுதாய மேம்பாட்டிற்கான விழிப்புணர்வினை ஏற்படுத்துதல்.
Mission
- தமிழ் இலக்கியங்கள் வழி மாணவியர்களுக்குப் பண்பாடு, கலாச்சாரம், தன்னம்பிக்கை, ஆளுமைப் பண்பு ஆகியவற்றை ஏற்படுத்தி நல்ல ஒரு முழுமையான சமுதாயப் பிரஜையாக உருவாக்குதல். திறனாய்வு முறையில் தமிழ் இலக்கியப் படைப்புகளை அணுக மாணவியர்களுக்குப் பயிற்சி அளிப்பதன் மூலம் தமிழ் இலக்கிய ஆய்வினை மேம்படுத்துதல். படைப்பிலக்கியப் பயிற்சியின் வாயிலாக இளம் தமிழ்ப் படைப்பாளர்களை உருவாக்குதல்..
