Dr. R. Karunambigai
Dr. R. Karunambigai is an experienced academician and researcher with twenty-three years of service in the field of higher education. She holds a Ph.D. in English from Bharathiar University with specialization in African American literature. Her areas of research interest include Indian Writing in English, Eco-criticism, Postmodernism, Cultural Studies, Feminism and English Language Teaching. She is recognized for academic leadership, research supervision, publications, conference presentations, invited lectures, and contributions to curriculum development. She was associated with Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts & Science from 2003 to 2026. She served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English and later levated to Head of the Department in 2009, a position she held until 2026.
She has an extensive publication record including journal articles, book chapters, and books. Her recent works include Voices of Strength: Matriarchal Tapestry of Gloria Naylor (2025), in which she served as the author and Emerging Echoes: Voices of Young Adults (2026), in which she served as the editor. She has co-authored numerous research papers on a range of topics, including eco-criticism, trauma studies, tribal literature, and postcolonial studies. In research guidance, she has successfully guided eight M.Phil. and four Ph.D. scholars.
Beyond teaching and research, she serves as a member of the Board of Studies and Doctoral Committees in various institutions. She is a certified Business English Certificate (BEC) Examiner for Cambridge Assessment English. She has chaired sessions at national and international conferences and delivered invited lectures and webinars on the topics related to Language and Literature. Her contributions have been recognized with awards including Best Teacher Award, Best Research Project Award, and Best Department Award at Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts & Science.
